Early Third Year Anniversary in Eureka Springs, Arkansas

Only one week early.

Welcome to northwest Arkansas! We took a trip out to Eureka Springs (ES) in the Ozark mountains only 45 minutes from Bentonville.

This is an overlook just before you enter into ES. It is absolutely gorgeous there.

We took a picture of this map so people could get a good idea of where we live and where ES is. We live in the center of the bulls eye.

ES has more Victorian houses than anywhere in the world outside of the north east. They were amazing. This house was built in the late 1800's.

Just a random bug. This is pretty close to actual size. If anyone knows what it is leave us a comment. We'd love to learn more about it.

This is the Thorncrown Chapel. It was built in the early 80's. They call it the glass chapel and it was amazing to sit inside it and be completely surrounded by nature. Beautiful architecture. The bottom building is close by. It is the building they use for Sunday school and other activities.

Downtown ES. It was amazing how many hills were in the area. They have a great public transportation system. This worked out perfect since Margie wouldn't have been able to walk everywhere. So we bought a day pass and explored the town.

 We saw this quilt shop and had to show Morgan. They actually had three quilt shops. Since this is Margie's new thing it was fun to browse.

There were so many weddings happening in ES. We were exploring the Crescent Moon hotel. It is beautiful and so many details in the architecture. There was a fun wedding happening we peeked into on the front lawn. It also had an awesome view from the 4th floor balcony. The concierge there told us about a great restaurant in town called Local Flavor. So we headed over for lunch.

This place was awesome. easily 4 1/2 stars. Fun atmosphere and the food was amazing. Our waiter, Rick, was so good it felt as if we were on the Food Network. My meal was good, the quiche, but Margie's meal was out of this world amazing. It was an Avocado and cheese melt with caramelized onions and a special mayonnaise sauce served on a honey wheat roll. It was so delicious. It also came with a side of homemade coleslaw that was fantastic. A great place to eat and we 100% recommend it. 

There were so many fun shops in town. There was an antique toy shop, a peanut and popcorn shop that had tons of homemade goodies. Three fudge shops. And a ton of artist's galleries. Ummm... isn't the pregnant manikin a little awkward. We thought it was. Especially since it was a jewelry store.

We had an absolutely wonderful 3rd anniversary and look forward to many, many, many more. We will definitely visit Eureka Springs again. We spent 8 hours there and barely scratched the surface of all it has to offer.

Even though we had to walk a lot, and there were a lot of stairs and hills and it was 90 degrees and a bit humid. We had a great time, the baby didn't come and we loved the whole day. So sorry for those who chose Saturday in the pool. He's not ready quite yet. We are visiting the hospital and taking a tour on Sunday so look forward to our next post.
