CARSON & DAVID'S WEDDING

It was a beautiful Saturday up at Mt. Timpanogas Park in Provo Canyon Utah. We had a blast as we all celebrated Carson & Dave's wedding. It was fun to see everyone there as well. Margie took most of the pictures and Andrew rocked the party as the DJ. Andrew's mom put together the most wonderful food ever. It was beyond delicious. It was a fantastic day.

I know, we are just too cute! It's true.

Andrew's Aunt Pat & Uncle Edward came up. It was great to see them!

Andrew's Grammy Faye came all the way from Eupora Mississippi. So fun to have her there.

This is all the Walkers who were there plus David. Sad Michael & Cathy couldn't make it. They are missed.

It was a very nice ceremony. They each prepared their own vows.

Andrew's Dad wrote a song and performed it.

Andrew got the party started with some hot music. He also has a softer side and played some slower stuff so we could all get romantic on the dance floor.

What a fun wedding. Andrew, Kate and Margie decorated the car so they could go off in style. It was good times. Congrats on getting hitched Carson & Dave!!

A DAY OF HARVEST

Our good friends Morgan & Andrew Schauerhamer are farmers and invited us out to see how the process of wheat farming happens. It was the coolest!
They farm thousands of acres. Most of it is either wheat or barley but they also farm mint. I know, I know. You are wondering where all the potatoes are...Well turns out they don't farm too many potatoes in Ashton, Idaho. Even though it is the seed potato capital of the world.

The combine goes around and cuts down the wheat. It is amazing, within seconds it has cut the wheat and separated the tares. It stores the wheat in the back and when it is full a tractor comes over with a bin and while the combine continues to harvest and can transfer its load. Very efficient.
It then brings the wheat over to Semi trucks and fills them up with grain and the trucks take it off to the grain silos. A very cool process.

Our friend Andrew was driving this combine and let us go along for a ride.

This is Andrew inside the very high tech combine. Complete with A/C, CD player and touchscreen controls that shows him all kind of fancy stuff.

We also headed out and harvested potatoes in a nearby field. We got both Russet and Red potatoes!

This is Morgan and their two girls. Leah had a blast picking up the harvested potatoes. All in all it was an awesome adventure. Thanks Morgan & Andrew!!

OUR AMAZING FIND

We made a great discovery yesterday. Andrew was in the basement and looked up and realized all of the floors were hardwood. So Andrew decided to rip up a corner of the carpet and find out.
There was linoleum on the hard wood but it peeled off quite nicely. We are excited and next summer we're gonna rip it all up and refinish the floors!!

Fun with Friends!

The last couple of days we have been having some fun times with new friends in Ashton. We love to play games and luckily we have found us some people who love to play games with us! The Schauerhamer's have taught us two new games, Star Wars Epic Duels and Puerto Rico! We can't get enough of them! We also play many games with the Wilson's. We use to play Settler's all the time, but we are branching out and playing other games. It has been a blast.

We also have FHE with the Wilson's and our friend Laura. We hope to have the Schauerhamer's join us for some FHE fun as well. Last night the Wilson's came over for a Labor Day BBQ! They brought the pork roast and we made the rice and grilled pineapple. As we were setting the table I gave them the napkins to put out and amazing Diana made these creations with them. We were all astounded!
Tonight we got a call from the Wilson's asking us to come help them harvest their garden before it freezes tonight. (Crazy that it is going to FREEZE in September) It was so much fun to pick string beans from the ground! We even got to take some home with us! How fun!!! Gotta love having friends! We love living in Ashton.

OBAMA'S SCHOOL SPEECH

Check it out. It is a wonderful speech. It is intended for K-12 but I feel inspired and I will work harder this year in school so I can become a better person for our country. I don't care what your views are of Obama and his administration, that was a good speech. And in noway did I feel it was laced with propaganda. I think everyone should read it.

SNOW IN AUGUST!?!

YES! It snowed in August. Unbelievable. But this is what we have to deal with in Ashton Idaho. We still love it. Despite the snow we were able to grow some great produce. We have an apple and fig tree. The figs won't be ready for awhile but we picked a few apples and made an incredible apple crisp. Our friends, the Wilson's, grew the onions and were so kind to share them with us. We were also given a zucchini from one of Margie's co-workers. It was so big we made Zucchini bread, spaghetti and brownies. And we still have more zucchini left. It's great.

By the way, this is an onion freshly pulled from the ground. We are completely aware that it looks like something out of a Dr. Seuss book. It was delicious non the less.

BACK TO SCHOOL

Margie is back in school. She loves it here at Ashton Elementary. She loves the school, the students and the staff. Fourth grade is her favorite and she is loving it. Unfortunately Margie had a little mishap the other day on her way to school. It was a bit rainy out and she slipped and fell and broke her tailbone. It is sad but she is recovering nicely. We are lucky enough to have a great clinic right across the street not a block away. There isn't much that can be done but they gave her some pain medication and it has made it slightly more bearable.
