2012 Fremont County Republican Caucus

On Tuesday, March 6th we went to the 2012 Fremont County Republican Caucus.
It was held at the High School in Ashton.
There were close to 1,000 people who attended.
They were planning on us being in the auditorium, but we quickly ran out of room there.
They moved us to the gym.
There was standing room ONLY!

Awesome!  Jackson had a great time...until he started getting a fever.
Luckily, we were able to go home RIGHT after the fever came.
No worries, he was fine...just getting some NEW teeth!
As soon as everyone gathered in the gym, we said the Pledge...
I have always LOVED seeing this flag in the gym.
It is soooo big.
Makes me so proud when I see it.

We then listened to a representative for each candidate give a short speech about what their candidate stood for and why we should vote for them.
LOOK!  Mitt Romney was at OUR caucus.
Just kidding.
That is our Stake President.
He just looks a ton like Mitt Romney!
Here are some pics of how full the gym was.  People were standing all around the balcony.

It was great to see sooo many people come out.

After we listened to the speeches we all left the gym and got in a HUGE line.
We all filed into a classroom.
When we got into the classroom, they gave us a gold coin and we were able to drop it in a tin box marked with the candidate of our choice.
It actually moved QUITE quickly.
I was surprised.

After everyone voted, they of course counted the votes.

It was time to announce the results.

In order for us to be done, one candidate had to win with over 51% of the votes.
If someone didn't win with 51% of the votes, we would have to vote again and we would drop the lowest percentage candidate.

Luckily, we didn't have to vote again.
Romney won with over 80% of the vote.

It was so wonderful to be a part of this event.
It was great to be able to use our right to vote.
It was great evening.
